Fred A. Patterson, Jr. AIA

Patterson Architects was founded in 1991, however Fred A. Patterson, Jr. AIA has been in the Brazos Valley Area practicing architectural services since 1983. Fred is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design, Class of 79’ and a Masters degree in Architecture, Class of 81’. Fred began his Architectural Business as Design Intent in 1983 then in 1984 he went into partnership with Charlie Burris and formed Burris * Patterson Architects. In 1991 Fred started Patterson Architects. In 1998 Patterson Architects purchased tthe former Searcy Clinic which was built in 1951 and was constructed from the salvaged lumber left from the funeral home, (which was one of the original “College Avenue houses” built in 1903) and had burnt on this site. Torched they say by the owner who was later convicted of arson. The low-lying, Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired suburban professional building is faced with fossiladed Texas limestone that was salvaged from the Memorial Students Center at Texas A&M University when they did a renovation in the 1949.
 
Fred has gained much knowledge of the area by participating in various community organizations. Fred A. Patterson Jr. has served as president on Downtown Now Board, and the Brazos Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. He has also served on several committees including the Brazos Valley Contractors Association, Bryan Historic Landmark Commission, Bryan Downtown Revitalization, Arts Council Brazos Valley, Rotary International - Brazos County, and the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley. He currently serves on the Historic Landmark Commission and Patterson Architects takes great pride in being a part of the Brazos Valley and wants to help the area develop design strategies to enhance our community, state and country.

Patterson Architects is a progressive architectural firm recognized for its focus on accomplishing successful design solutions for clients within budget and time constraints. The combined experience represented in our professional team includes years of experience in the areas of programming, site and facilities planning, interior design, single and multi-family residential design, additions to and renovations of existing structures, commercial and institutional design, design/build, project management, and energy conservation involving private, municipal, educational, and governmental projects. We have no preconceived solutions that tend to hinder a design firm's ability to respond to a program, and we know how to listen, appreciate, analyze, and respond to a Client's requirements. With a strong desire to provide quality design and successful project, we recognize the critical need for open and thorough communications between all parties involved in the project. All members of our Design Team are highly skilled at determining, understanding, and responding to project criteria.
 
In analyzing specific project requirements, we retain additional architectural, engineering, and equipment consultants as required to provide "state of the art" expertise in searching out concepts, offering viable alternatives, and striving for a solution which meets the critical criteria of economy, function, and aesthetics. We have had a close working relationship with our engineers and feel that their philosophies integrate with ours to produce flexible, functional, energy-efficient facilities. Accuracy and responsibility in the production of design documents, punctual time schedules, and excellent client relations are recognized as critical elements in producing quality architecture.
 
Individuals in our organization have been involved as programmers, planners, project managers, and project architects for a wide range of building projects while employed by Patterson Architects and other firms prior to joining the firm. We pride ourselves in a diverse project base and flexibility to manage all project types.
 

Our Mission

The mission statement is to provide quality design within a client’s budget and work within the timeframe allotted.  The team will remain responsive to client’s needs and endeavor to maintain at least 70% of projects each year, with repeat clients.
