Brazos County Detention Center by Sergeant Lita Sifuentez in Key Issues
Brazos County Sheriff Chris Kirk officially unveiled the Brazos County Detention Center at a grand opening ceremony on Tuesday evening, September 7, 2010. When he assumed office in 1997, Sheriff Kirk saw the future need for additional jail space as our county has continued to grow. The Brazos County Commissioners Court on Tuesday approved moving ahead with plans to advertise a request for proposals from contractors interested in completing Phase III renovations on the courthouse. Commissioner Kenny Mallard said a timeline doesn’t exist for when the selection will happen or when advertising will begin because the court has not received final plans for the project from Patterson Architects.
