Patterson Architects designed the 7,000 square foot facility to house the Drive-In Environmental Research Chamber, the largest of its kind in the country. The facility consists of a temperature- and humidity-controlled, 75-by-22-by-22-foot chamber housed in a building that also contains a conference room, offices, control room and vehicle preparation area.

This project involved renovations of the existing facility to lab research space. The facility was originally designed for biological teaching space, our team reviewed the construction, made suggestions on the design, developed drawings. Included in the laboratory space are Bio safety II Cabinets, dark rooms, cold rooms, new suspended ceiling, lighting, plumbing and upgrades to the HVAC. We evaluated the restrooms and egress in the building to be ADA compliant for the change in use. During the design there were issues with vibrations in the facility.

The 2009 New Minimum Security Facility for Brazos County is a new facility housing low risk work release inmates. The facility features two 64 bed pods, multiuse room, public toilet, processing room, jailer offices, and two outdoor recreation yards. Designed for TAS Compliance, TCJS, and the 2003 International Building Code.
